Back in MAC - Operation Just Cause...

...was originally recorded on 23 December 1989 with a Nakamichi Dragon cassette deck using dbx II noise reduction. The deck was simultaneously fed by a Radio Shack Pro 2004 scanner and a professional back-electret stereo boom microphone.

  The microphone was located about 500 feet east of the control tower, facing an area where several C-141 aircraft were parked. Ground power units, refuel and cargo loading vehicles (as well as passing vehicles) are heard along with aircraft taxiing and taking off.

 All radio communications are in real-time with the aircraft events

-- there are no overdubs. The scanner is primarily in the random mode, except during the aircraft taxi and takeoff events. Some editing for length and for base radio and radar interference was necessary. The total running time is 72:54.
